Young People’s Safety

In Scouting,  ALL adults have a responsibility to make sure that the Programme is fun and exciting. We must also make sure that it is safe.

The Scout Association’s policies, rules, code of behaviour, advice on Child Protection and safety policy are there to ensure our young people stay safe while they enjoy themselves and learn.

It is the policy of 1st Kotor Bay Sea Scout Group, British Scouting Overseas and The UK Scout Association (https://www.scouts.org.uk/about-us/policy/) to safeguard the welfare of all members.

We are committed to:

prioritizing the interests and well-being of young people in all our considerations and activities. We respect the rights, wishes, and feelings of both the young people and parents we work with, promoting their welfare and protection within a position of trust. Every adult involved in Scouting shares the responsibility of upholding this commitment at all times.

An adult in Scouting has a responsibility to ensure that young people are protected from harm and therefore it is the responsibility of each adult in Scouting to ensure that:

their behaviour is appropriate at all times

they observe the rules established for the safety and security of young people

they follow the procedures following suspicion, disclosure or allegation of child abuse

they recognise the position of trust in which they have been placed

in every respect, the relationships they form with the young people under their care are appropriate

All adults including parent helpers working with young people in our group are asked for references, complete a Montenegrin criminal record check and if appropriate a UK Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) form.
